20 April 2008, Boston, MA – Old South church stands on the corner of
Boylston Street where the Boston Marathon finishes. Today in the
vestibule, they offered a map for people to locate whence they've
come to participate in the 112th running of this race. Today's
service was specially tailored for the athletes with pervasive
imagery of endurance running (and rolling) and a special blessing on
those brave enough to go the distance from Hopkinton to Boston.
Tomorrow, the whole city will come to a standstill to watch a few
Kenyans beat the adidas running pants off athletes from every other
corner of the map, and I get to be there making pictures.
